THE COMMISSION PROCESS
A PAINTING ESPECIALLY FOR YOU
I welcome a small number of commissions each year and genuinely enjoy the process of creating something personal for someone. It is always an honour to be trusted with a commission, particularly when the painting is intended to mark a special occasion, memory or place.
The process begins with a conversation. We can talk about what has drawn you to my work, the feeling you would like the painting to hold, and any thoughts you may have around colour, scale or inspiration.
From there, I will create an original artwork in my own visual language, something made especially for you, rather than a reproduction of an existing painting.
You will be part of the journey from beginning to end. As the painting develops, I will share photographs and updates from the studio so that you can see the work taking shape and feel involved in its creation.
Every commission is different and I want the experience of commissioning a painting to feel as special as the finished artwork itself.
A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
Before I accept a commission, we'll discuss the idea, size, timescale and other important details together. Occasionally I may need to decline a request for example, if the timescale isn't achievable or if I don't feel I am the right artist for what you have in mind. If that happens, I will always be open and honest with you from the outset.
If you're considering a commission, you don't need to have everything worked out before getting in touch. An idea, a feeling, a place or even just a starting point is enough for us to begin the conversation.
